Donna to Nikki: "Keep the money!"
Nikki and I just finished the divorce. Those were the headlines in the media after we settled. There is something in court called "trailing". It means you have to come back to court every day until you are finished. The judge imposes it upon you. My divorce was trailing - not only by the judge but by Nikki. He was never going to let me go, each day we faced it again and again.
I had to put an end to it, I finally said to myself, "Donna, stop. Stop, so you can start again. You will never find the offshore accounts. You will never have Nikki recognizing you as a marital partner whose contributions had an economic value."
So, I walked away from millions. Left them on the table and now I am looking at what I got rid of. The world still loves Nikki Sixx but I don't. I have to listen to women who want him in their bed and call me a fool for giving him up.
I gave up money to live, to breathe.
I can tell the story of my life now: the battering, the abuse, the women, the control, the money Nikki spent on clothes he never wore, the drugs he used like candy, and the secrets he tried to hide through litigation. "Donna, keep your mouth shut." was the subtext of the settlement he wanted. That I didn't give up.
I paid a high price for freedom, but the cost of not having it is much too high.
