STORY FIVE
Sometimes the only way to deal with the pain of knowing a narcissist is letting the words flow in poetry. Narcissists come in many forms. In her own words, this survivor tells us why she wrote this poem:I wrote this poem to help me through the torment I feel for being made a party to child abuse in the form of narcissistic manipulation by a man that I was engaged to who is an ego-dystonic bisexual narcissist.
Robert P.So open and expressive,
You first appeared to me,
So generous to the down and out,
The young, inept, needy. You said you'd be so proud,
To have me as your wife,
Reflecting who you thought you were,
How so untrue to life! The constant gifts to others,
Belied a gilded cage,
Constructed oh so carefully,
To your vile needs assuage.A wife the perfect cover,
To manipulate a boy,
Into your ideal family,
Using a mentor ploy. You dropped the hint so casually,
That if you had your way,
My children would move on in life,
Your kid was here to stay.To Val d' Isere you flew with him,
The boy who could not read,
A taste for finer things instilled,
Your minion guaranteed. In Paris, stealing from a shop,
Did you take him to task?
Oh no! You said his heart's desires,
You'd buy, he need just ask.You saw no evil in your plan,
To keep him up your sleeve,
His rights to manhood, family, love,
Yours to take - so you believe. And when I tried to intervene,
To save the guileless boy,
You flew into a vicious rage,
To keep him as your toy.You wrote of owning others,
In a journal that I read,
Your audacity unequaled,
"My fantasies", you said. When asked about a roommate,
So far beneath you - it seemed odd -
Your answer mocked humanity,
You said: "He thinks I'm God."Your other victims vanished,
Dead, destroyed and disavowed,
I'll not stand by and witness,
Such violence and be cowed.Struck down, but not downtrodden,
Duped no more to be,
Your clever words no longer hide,
narcissistic bisexuality.
